American Black Journal – American Heart Month / Scarab Club

February is American Heart Month, and we’ll talk about the importance of leading a heart healthy lifestyle all year long. Stephen talks with Dr. Kimberly Farrow about the disproportionate number of African Americans who experience heart disease and stroke and how you can reduce your risk. Plus, we’ll hear a personal story of how one woman successfully changed her diet and lifestyle after suffering from a stroke and heart disease.  Also coming up on the show, for the first time in its 113-year history, The Scarab Club in Detroit is hosting a Black History Month exhibition featuring all Black artists from Detroit. Stephen gets the details from the Club’s first Black Board President, Mariuca Rofick, and from one of the artists whose work is on display, Taurus Burns.
