American Black Journal – Policing, the Community & Schools / Detroit Trinity International Film Festival

We’ll take a deeper dive into policing and community safety. Stephen talks with Sherry McRill of Northeast Integrated Health about a program that sends social and behavioral health experts on calls with police to help provide needed services to the community and deescalate potentially threatening situations. And, Misha Stallworth from the Detroit Public Schools Community District Board of Education joins in the conversation by explaining her efforts to reform policing in Detroit schools. Plus, the 14th annual Detroit Trinity International Film Festival is still a go for later this month, despite the pandemic. The event is going virtual, and Stephen gets all of the details from the festival’s organizers.
