Driving While Black

Staying safe while driving has long been a concern for African Americans. Although the automobile provided mobility and independence during the 20th century, African Americans were further exposed to systemic racism while driving throughout the country.

Here’s a preview of the PBS documentary titled “Driving While Black: Race, Space and Mobility in America,” which is now available for streaming at PBS.org (for Passport Members).
