July 16, 2020 – Speaking at this week’s COVID313 Town Hall meeting, State Representative Tyrone Carter, D-Detroit, tells his COVID-19 story and what needs to be done in Lansing as the pandemic continues.

In this highlight Carter suggests perhaps some members on the other side of the aisle might have to catch the virus and experience its effects before they can understand how just how serious it is.

The growing stress from the ongoing pandemic has been felt by those involved with the COVID313 Virtual Town Hall project.

Arlyssa Heard’s refrain, “I don’t know” speaks for many parents as the cases of the coronavirus rise again as we enter the fifth month of this crisis.

Brandy Johnson is an education policy advisor for Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

She provides late-breaking information about how schools will re-open this fall as it stands now.

School districts will work from a 63-page document outlining mandates and guidance on far-ranging issues including personal protection equipment, cleaning protocols and transportation procedures.​

Hundreds of thousands of pounds of food are provided to Metro Detroiters in need each week and the numbers continue to rise as the pandemic has taken so many jobs.
