Detroit teachers authorize a strike for safety

Detroit Federation of Teachers Executive Vice President Terrence Martin calls the safety strike authorization by Detroit teachers ‘historic’. Ninety-One percent voted in favor with the intent of staying on the job, but virtually.  In this highlight from the latest COVID313 Virtual Town Hall meeting Martin lays out teachers’ concerns as the Detroit Public Schools Community District prepares to open.  Joining him, Todd Tennis, a spokesperson for AFT-Michigan provides a bigger picture of teachers concerns from Lansing.

Starting school in Detroit: the real and the virtual
