A COVID-19 vaccine is coming. Who gets it first?

November 19, 2020 – The COVID313 Town Hall learned about the vaccines that could be here soon and how they will be distributed from Dr Marcus Zervos of the Wayne State University Medical School specializing in infectious diseases.

“We won’t have a large supply of the vaccine, probably till spring,” Zervos said.

Zervos explained the distribution recommendations will come from the Centers For Disease Control but decisions will come from a partnership with the state, local health departments and hospitals.

“More than I’ve seen in my entire career,” Zervos said, “this is the first time ever the decision is not just logistic but how to get the vaccine out, but we’re taking into account looking into vulnerable populations, looking at issues of disparity.
