Detroit Mayor Duggan to Highlight Upcoming Vincent Chin 40th Event and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

When: Monday, May 2 | 2-2:45pm

What: Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan joins Asian American community leaders for a news conference to commemorate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and to announce plans for the Vincent Chin 40th Remembrance & Rededication.

Who: Mayor Duggan will also be joined by guest speakers: State Senator Stephanie Chang; founding members of American Citizens for Justice (established in 1983 to seek justice for Vincent Chin) Roland Hwang, James Shimoura and Helen Zia; Rebeka Islam, Director or Vincent Chin 40th Committee; and Wendy Lewis Jackson the Managing Director of The Kresge Foundation’s Detroit Program.

Where: Monday’s news conference will be held in Detroit’s Historic Chinatown, and viewable for live-streaming on the Vincent Chin 40th Remembrance and Rededication and City of Detroit facebook pages.
