COVID313 Talk: Early childhood funding

June 10, 2021 – It’s week 64 in the COVID313 Community Coalition Virtual Town Hall Meeting series.

This time much of the talk concerns the massive boost in school funding from the federal government to help early learners and child care centers.

Denise Smith, Implementation Director with Hope Starts Here said the funding is important to the economy as it allows more parents with young children to go back to work.

Smith said the Governor wants to expand the Great Start Readiness Program to more families as well as provide aid to schools and educators.

“Even with the Governor’s recommendations,” Smith said, “it still has to get passed through the legislature so we need to continue to advocate that they put this to plan.”
