One Detroit Weekend: April 12, 2024

We are halfway through April and headed into a weekend filled with theater, live music visual arts and more around Detroit and its suburbs. There’s the “When Instruments Roamed the Earth!” concert at Orchestra Hall or the “Heavy Melanin” exhibit at the Norwest Gallery of Art.
Plus, check out “Stars of the Sixties LIVE” at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center or the Fishville Farms Summer Concert Series Featuring BlueSkye. Peter Whorf and Cecelia Sharpe of 90.9 WRCJ share what else is coming up around town on “One Detroit Weekend.”
Upcoming Events:
- “The (Curious Case of the) Watson Intelligence,” a time-traveling comedic love story, is playing at The Inspired Acting Company in Walled Lake through April 21.
- The Tangent Gallery and Hastings Street Ballroom in Detroit host the “Witches Night Bazaar: Rite of Spring” on Friday, April 12, featuring mystical music, art, education and magic.
- “When Instruments Roamed the Earth!” hits the stage at Orchestra Hall in Detroit on Saturday, April 13 for an all-ages performance that is both comedic and educational.
- The Michael A. Guido Theater at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn hosts “Stars of the Sixties” on Saturday, April 13.
- The Michigan Philharmonic Jazz Trio performs at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth on Sunday, April 14. The performance will be paired with a buffet dinner.
- The Fishville Farms Summer Concert Series Featuring BlueSkye takes place at the Chelsea Fairgrounds Green Sports Barn on Saturday, April 13.
- “Heavy Melanin,” an exhibit that celebrates the Black aesthetic, is on display at the Norwest Gallery of Art in Detroit through April 28.
- The David Klein Gallery presents artist Benjamin Pritchard’s “Nature Worship” exhibit on display through May 4.
