One Detroit Weekend: July 19, 2024

Festivals take center stage in and around Detroit this weekend. People can check out Blake’s Lavender Festival in Armada, the Detroit Book Festival and Festa Italiana in Sterling Heights. There is also the Dam Jam Music Festival in Lansing and Faster Horses Music Festival in Brooklyn.

Plus, the 2024 USGA Junior Amateur Championship comes to Bloomfield Township and Chris Botti brings his musical stylings to Detroit. See what else is coming up this weekend and beyond on “One Detroit Weekend” with contributors Cecelia Sharpe and Dave Wagner of 90.9 WRCJ.

Upcoming Events: 

  • Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Chris Botti brings his musical stylings to the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts Main Stage on Friday, July 19. 
  • The Dam Jam Music Festival takes place July 19-20 at the historic Brenke Fish Ladder in Old Town Lansing, featuring Michigan-based artists and bands. 
  • The Detroit Symphony Orchestra hosts the Clark Park Culture and Arts Festival on Saturday, July 20 at Clark Park in Southwest Detroit featuring food, music and dancing.
  • Blake’s Orchard and Cider Mill in Armada hosts the annual Blake’s Lavender Festival July 19-21 featuring Michigan vendors, wellness classes, family-friendly activities and lavender-infused food and drinks. 
  • Festa Italiana takes place at Freedom Hill County Park in Sterling Heights July 19-21. The festival includes Italian food vendors, wine tastings and a cannoli eating contest. 
  • The annual Faster Horses Music Festival returns to the Michigan International Speedway July 19-21 in Brooklyn, featuring country stars Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson and Hardy. 
  • Eastern Market Shed 5 in Detroit hosts the 7th annual Detroit Book Festival on Sunday, July 21. Plus, there will also be a Bookfest afterparty from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. at Eastern Market Brewing. 
  • The Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills hosts the 2024 USGA Junior Amateur Championship starting Monday, July 22. The tournament is free to attend.
