One Detroit Weekend: June 14, 2024

Juneteenth is coming up Wednesday, June 19 and Father’s Day is Sunday, June 16. Celebrate with the Juneteenth Family Reunion or a round of mini golf at Cranbrook Art Museum. Plus, summer festival season continues in the region with the Ann Arbor Summer Festival and the Michigan Taco Fiesta. Contributor Peter Whorf of 90.9 WRCJ shares more events coming up this weekend and beyond on “One Detroit Weekend.” 

Upcoming Events: 

  • The Ann Arbor Summer Festival takes place at various locations throughout the city June 14-30, featuring live music, entertainment and dance parties. 
  • Curators of Black Excellence hosts the Juneteenth Family Reunion June 15-16 at Catalpa Oaks Park in Southfield.  
  • Celebrate Father’s Day with a round of mini golf at the Cranbrook Art Museum’s “Cranbrook on the Green” course in Bloomfield Hills. One free ticket is offered per group, and the museum is free for mini golfers.
  • The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit hosts a Juneteenth Jubilee Celebration on June 19 featuring yoga, live entertainment, horseback riding, storytelling and more.
  • The Xtreme Xperience returns to M1 Concourse in Pontiac June 20-23. Attendees can drive exotic cars on the racetrack. 
  • The Michigan Taco Fiesta takes place at Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights June 14-16, featuring hot pepper and taco eating contests as well as a cutest dog contest. 
  • The 35th annual Motor Muster in Greenfield Village takes place on June 16 at the Henry Ford Museum for Father’s Day. The event features historic and classic cars. 
  • The Kylyn APIA Arts & Culture Festival hosts the “CHIMERA” film screening June 18 at the Ann Arbor District Library downtown branch. The film screening is presented by the APIA performance collective IS/LAND.
