What is the workforce of the future? New One Detroit Roadshow

Watch a new Roadshow discussing opportunities in skilled trades in southeast Michigan
Thursday, May 24th, 7pm

According to the Workforce Intelligence Network, more than 800,000 jobs across Michigan between now and 2022 may go unfilled without an immediate influx of skilled trades workers. IT, medical assistance, software development and robotics are just a few of the upward trending job needs that according to WIN produce an average median salary of $65,000 per year.

Detroit PBS One Detroit tackles this critical topic in its “Workforce of the Future Roadshow” on May 24 at 7pm ET.

Join anchor Christy McDonald along with American Black Journal’s Stephen Henderson and Nolan Finley of the Detroit News as they explore the scope of the skilled trades gap along with new programs that the City of Detroit, the State of Michigan and others are putting forth to help connect workers of the future to Michigan industries in need.

We will also examine what steps are being taken to include Michigan’s returning citizens in job training and placement.

Panelists:

  • Mario Bueno, Luck, Inc.
  • Jeff Donofrio, Executive Director, Workforce Development, City of Detroit
  • Alycia Meriweather, Deputy Superintendent, DPSCD
  • Dannis Mitchell, Diversity Manager, Barton Malow
